I adore Michael E. Knight as Tad on All My Children.
The character is handsome, witty, charming, brave, sensitive and rich. And he knows when to laugh at himself. What’s not to love? (OK, I could do without his unfortunate attraction to Krystal, but hey, nobody’s perfect, right?)
It’s Tad’s instincts, however, that I’m appreciating the most right now. Particularly when it comes to smarmy Robert Gardner.
I am sooooooo glad that Tad continues to be wary of his uncle.
While just about everyone else seems to be giving Robert the benefit of the doubt, Tad can barely conceal his contempt.
And that’s good. Because, as we viewers are aware, Robert isn’t exactly who he pretends to be.
Everyone knows him as an FBI agent who conveniently happened to be working on Jesse’s case. But, in truth, he’s the man responsible for stealing 20 years of Jesse’s life.
No one seems to suspect him, though, especially after he “saved” Frankie and Colby from their kidnappers and supposedly captured the man who’s been targeting Jesse.
Yeah, Robert is an expert manipulator. But I know there’s at least one person he won’t be able to fool so easily.
I guess we can definitely add intelligence to Tad’s impressive list of attributes. And in a time where more and more soap heroes get “dumbed down” for the sake of story, it’s nice to still see some brain power in a leading man.

I couldn’t agree with you more, Kara, regarding how amazing “Tad” (Michael E. Knight) is on All My Children. I suspect he and I are about the same age….and I’ve been a fan of his since the first time I saw him on AMC. His quick wit, sensitivity and intuitiveness make him practically perfect! (As perfect as a fictional character can be, that is!!) Kudos to AMC for utilizing the great talent they have available to them. I can’t wait to see Robert Gardner pleading “uncle” when Tad brings him down! (That guy gives me the heebee jeebees just looking at him; kinda like Ramsey on OLTL! Yuck!)

    I wholeheartedly agree with MountainMama.
I, too, have been watching Tad since he first came to Pine Valley and have loved him at Hello! (Okay, so it’s a cheesy reference from a movie, but it’s true in this case).
And when I met him at SSW – he was just so incredibly *nice.*
He stayed *way* past his autograph time and came up to everyone outside his booth who couldn’t get his FastPass and either signed an autograph or took pictures with them.
Kara, how about my closerthanthis cheek-to-cheek photo with MEK!
Tad is a core character of AMC and I’m so glad to see he’s finally getting some good material to show his acting chops.
I also agree that Robert Gardner is as slimy as Ramsey on OLTL. Both characters need to be taken down -yesterday!

I’ve also watched & loved Tad since day one. Another plus to Jesse & Angie’s return is that the Tad character has gotten new life … I was getting pretty disgusted w/Tad up until that point. His marriage to Krystal still irks me. But I’m back to loving it when Tad is on my screen again.
I am so glad Tad’s not going for Robert’s okey doke. Looking forward to that showdown.

Hi, MountainMama. (Love that name, by the way. I sing John Denver’s *Country Roads* to my one-year-old all the time 🙂 Don’t know if that’s where you got the name from, but that’s what it made me think of.)
Anyway, back on topic. LOL. Tad is pretty special, and I think all the credit goes to Michael E. Knight. And, yes, Michele, I remember your cheek-to-cheek photo with the man. You’re just trying to make us all jealous, aren’t you?!
As Kimi said, Jesse and Angie’s re-emergence has really helped pump life into Tad’s character.
You know who else I’m really enjoying him with? Aidan. You can just tell that MEK and Aiden Turner have the same sense of humor. Their comaraderie really makes the Tad/Aidan friendship believable.
Thanks to everyone for their thoughts!

Kara….thanks for the comment on my name. I love the John Denver song and I guess that’s part of the reason for this name; the other part is the fact that I am fortunate enough to call home the beautiful mountains of northeast Georgia.
I absolutely agree with you that the oftentimes comedic, always HOT pairing of MEK and Aiden Turner is most entertaining….especially when Tad responds to Aiden in his own “Aidenesque” accent. The grin/smirk on MEK’s face is nothing short of priceless!
I am truly enjoying AMC these days…and can’t wait to see how Greg Nelson is going to fit into this puzzle, albeit a brief re-appearance.
