I’m not sure how Jesse’s return on All My Children is going to logistically pan out … but, man, is it ever good to see the Hubbards back in Pine Valley.
As soon as Debbi Morgan stepped back on-screen as Angie, I was enthralled. What a wonderfully strong, accomplished, intelligent, caring woman, the type of individual viewers can — and should — really support.
And not to mention beautiful. I mean, has Debbi even aged during the past 20 years?
She has officially joined my list of soap characters I wanna be like when I grow up. (You know, if I didn’t live in the real world, of course!)
Then there’s Jesse. How AMC is going to pull off his “back from the dead” story, I don’t really know. But I’m just enjoying having this complex, charismatic persona, as played by Darnell Williams, in Pine Valley again. So please, please, please, AMC, don’t mess this up.
And, finally, there’s Frankie.
I had an inkling early on that Quentin was actually Jesse and Angie’s son. But even if he hadn’t been, I would have liked the character, simply because of the actor who plays him.
Cornelius Smith Jr. has really caught my attention as Frankie. In fact, I think AMC has done a phenomenal job casting this part. After all, this is the only son of super couple Jesse and Angie; the actor needs to be something special.
So … all in all, I’ve been pleased with the Hubbards’ re-emergence in Pine Valley.
Let’s hope AMC can keep this positive momentum going.

I’ve always been a Jesse & Angie fan & I’m so excited & enjoying their return. It’s been years since I rushed home to see AMC & felt like I had to see episodes every day instead of waiting til the weekend to catch up or just reading about it in a soap magazine.
I was thisclose to quitting watching AMC all together til I found out they were returning. For the most part I was just catching up on the show in magazines or watching here/there. I deleted it off my TIVO a lot more than I watched over the past few years.
Kudos to Debbi Morgan & Darnell Williams, both who look fantastic for being in their 50s! And for making Michael E. Knight likeable for me again, altho I am not looking forward to the predicted storyline that Krystal will bring Jesse/Angie back together (rolling eyes).
Anyhoo, if AMC stays on this path I may not have to stop watching completely. The only thing that made “real Greenlee’s” return worthwhile was Angie’s involvment.
And the guy who plays Frankie is an awesome casting job! He actually looks like he could be their kid (unlike the last Frankie who looked like he just walked off a runway) & so far is doing a great acting job.
I’m looking forward to watching the Hubbards reunited & it feels so good! & watching the flashbacks are bringing back so many memories for this longtime fan!

AMC violated Section 245, paragraph A of the Soap Opera Rules: if a character dies on screen or if a body is found after an accident, the character can only return as a ghost or in a dream. The the actor can only return as the secret, not-known-about-until-now twin.
Paragraph B of that section is: If the character has an accident and there is no body or casket, they’re not really dead. They can come back at any time. They may or may not be played by the same actor. They are free to change race *cough*Blair on ‘One Life to Live’ who went from being 1/2 Japanese to 100% white.*cough*
It will be very interesting to see how the writers explain this one.
And yes, I’m kind of embarrassed that I know all of this.

I had stopped watching All My Children until I found out that Angie and Jessie were returning. It’s been a long time coming for good story lines on All My Children. Kudos to ABC for bringing back one of the most dynamic couples. I eagerly look forward to the unfolding drama!

Yay! You said exactly what I think. It’s awesome the original actors are back and you’re right, the actor cast to play Frankie is perfect. It’s great and has really put some life into my fave soap!!

I seem to recall these two on another soap years ago, but can’t remember the name. Was it a spin off?

Wow. It’s great to hear from all you fellow Jesse and Angie lovers.
To answer your question, Shannon, Angie was on ABC’s The City where she met Jacob, a dead ringer for her “dead” husband Jesse. So, yes, the actors were on another show together.
And Zeke? Tad will always be Tad, even though he’s older and slightly pudgier. LOL. I’m loving the Jesse/Tad dynamic already.
Tiffany, you’re too funny. Jesse’s been a ghost, part of a dream and his lookalike did show up on another soap (see above). But although we did see a body and casket for Jesse, Days of Our Lives proved with Patch that a casket doesn’t mean squat. Ah, the wonderful absurdity of soaps!
Like Kimi and Mona and Soapdish, I’m reveling in the excitement.
Thanks to everyone for posting and sharing their Hubbard love 🙂

I don’t think there has ever been a sadder episode on AMC as the day Jesse died. I sat in front of the TV with tears pouring out. It is great to see Angie and Jessie back again and I hope AMC is smart enough to keep them around for a while. The first time they were on, AMC billed them as the “first black supercouple in soap history.” This time it is clear that they are a supercouple, no matter what their race. I love those two together and Darnell is hilarious!

this really takes me back, i dont watch soaps, but in 1980, i liked this girl and she made me watch All my children with her, if I wanted to be her boyfriend. So , i watched it, I remember Jessie and Angie, they were friends with Greg and jenny,(they should be brought back too).

I have not watched AMC since I graduated high school in 1984 but I’m hooked again! Jessie & Angie were such a beloved couple. I DVR the show everyday…I looked forward to it.

I have long since migrated to The Young & the Restless on CBS, but my aunt still watches AMC faithfully and keeps me updated on Pine Valley. Jessie/Angie & Greg/Jenny and player Tad & Phoebe bring me back to the glory days of AMC! I really miss it. Also, remember Cliff & Nina, Palmer’s daughter? The actor that played Cliff is actually on Y & R, but he will always be Dr. Cliff Warner to me!

Only on the soap operas! I used to keep up, but have since let it go…….enough real-life drama, no need for the soaps (actually, I live as drama-free a life as possible with a teen!). It will be a hoot to see them pull off his return after all these years………..*well I won’t actually see it*….lol

SOOO happy the Hubbards are back. Debbi and Darnell are PHENOMENAL. Angie and Jesse were great back in the day and they are EVEN BETTER now!
Hooray for the Hubbards! I’m hooked again.

As a 34 year old mother of four,I have been watching All My Children my whole life. I must agree there was never a sadder day in soap opera history than the day Jesse died. I was a young teenage girl at the time, but I sat in front of the T.V. and cried my heart out with Angie. I love the fact that the two of them are back and hope they are here for a long time. They both look great and Frankie is the spitting image of Jesse(great job on casting this actor). I am so glad that soap operas can create magic. Been missing Jesse and Angie for 20years.

I’m soooo excited about the return of Angie and Jesse! I’ve been an AMC fan for about 30 years! Watching the clips from the past brings back so many memories.
Unlike the last year or so, I look forward to watching AMC everyday. AND I get to see the Tad I remember from the past in action!
AND Greelee, I love her too!
    Thank you AMC!!!!

In response to Tiffany’s quotation of the Soap Opera Rules (LOL!) I have one thing to say & it’s JMHO.
I have stuck with All My Children (my own fault, granted) through all types of b.s. storylines featuring characters I could care less about & watched them do unimaginably stupid things for even stupider reasons & watched characters get away with stuff they shouldn’t even in soapland.
I’ve watched characters I don’t care that much about come & go.
IT’S MY TURN DANG IT LOL!!! FINALLY!! Characters I love are back & to be honest, I don’t care how it all goes down! Don’t care how ridiculous it sounds, don’t care what his reasons were, I’m just glad they are back.
It’s like Debbi & Darnell have forced the actors they have scenes with (like Michael E. Knight who seemed to be sleepwalking thru most of his scenes for YEARS) to step their game up & have given this show new life.
Jesse’s explanation can’t be any more ridiculous than many of the stupid plots AMC has come up with over the past 5yrs or so, ESPECIALLY last year (i.e., Alexander Cambias as the Satin Slayer? Dixie eating poisoned banana pancakes?? What disrepsect to a great actress THAT was whether you liked the character or not, she helped put AMC on the map too).
Jesse & Angie (& Tad on the sidelines) are bringing back what made AMC great once. I don’t care what the explanation is for Jesse’s “death” I’m just happy he’s back!
Welcome back Debbi Morgan & Darnell Williams! You may just help save this soap from cancellation!
and what a great casting job they did finding this NuFrankie (I agree with the first poster, I never bought the last Frankie – the writers at that time just name dropped “Hubbard” hoping someone would bite but we didn’t)
And after somebody pages Jenny Gardner, heck BEFORE they page her, PAGING DIXIE COONEY MARTIN STAT who should have never been written out like that anyway!
    🙂 rant over LOL!

Amen, Maysie, Amen. If we could buy Superman reversing the earth for Lois Lane, we can deal with Jesse Hubbard coming back! Jesse should have never been written off anyway. Now if we could just Greg back for a day or so. And Liza!

    February 15, 2008 at 10:26 am

I am co-signing with Maysek! I couldn’t care less how the writers work this out either.
I can continue to suspend disbelief just like I have for YEARS on All My Children with SO MANY of their recent storylines! (can anyone say JOSH MADDEN the “un-abortion”???!!!)
And yes, bring back Liza Colby to raise some heck! I’ll even take Greg maybe he can come back to help chill Liza out LOL, she’s always wanted him anyway.
I am looking forward to Jesse/Angie seeing each other for the first time today too!

I am soooo happy that Angie and Jesse are BACK!!! It’s soooo cool! I watched them when i was 12 and 13 yrs old. I was sooo suprised to see beautful black people back than because all you saw was “mainstream” people. Not our people on the soaps. I love that Alicia Keys song they saw one another again with and how they came together again. I didn’t like the love scene, it was too rushed!!! Jesse was and still is upset because of what he has endured and I think it was to soon for them to be togther. It was sloppy. I really hope AMC will make it better next time. These are super couples come on!!! Also it was rushed and again Jesse is very troubled!! I love Darnelle Williams he’a a cutie!!!

Altho nice, my problem with the love scene is it had entirely too much going on. I had to rewind & watch it several times to decipher the flashbacks from the current scenes. I think that was a good idea that just didn’t come across well onscreen.
I do think this particular reveal happened way too fast tho. Angie returned onscreen on January 18 & by Feb. 15 they saw each other. That’s not even a month.
We get fed months of nonsense on AMC with storylines that aren’t as fun to watch or historical. Hopefully they will drag out Jesse’s secret for awhile longer so their fans can enjoy it.

Where do I begin…I am overjoyed at Angie & Jesse returning. I always adored Jesse and thoght they were the best actors on daytime. I used to schedule my college courses around the soap back in the 80’s! Watching them as they return to AMC is as much emotional for me as Angie has said. I cried my eyes out as she ran after that train…I felt her pain and anxiety of what she saw…I was soo glad as they finially saw & touched each other and got “reacquainted” in the cabin! Boy was that a heated but sweet scene. I’ve been an AMC fan since I was 11 yrs. old…I’m now 43 and I cani’t wait to watch it every night and weekend. I hope they never leave again…I love the two of them together!
