The KISS!!

Yessireee!

The best thing that’s happened on General Hospital in just about forever was Tuesday’s grand finale….

The IN-credibly IN-tense closing scene between Michael and Abby culminated in THAT KISS!

It made me look so forward to Wednesday’s eppy…..only to be totally disappointed when there was no Michael and Abby to be found.

Hence, Wednesday’s GH eppy for me was a whole lot of fast forwarding through Crazy Lisa’s scenes, through Nikolas and Elizabeth, always through Brenda….

But I digresss…..

Back to Michael and Abby….

Michael and Abby

Andrea Bogart as Abby and Chad Duell as Michael have been having some of the best scenes in the show.

Since he entered the show during that very high profile Michael-going to-jail storyline, Chad Duell has impressed me every step of the way.

Every emotion that he shows is so believable and real…it’s like he takes the viewer on this wonderful ride.

Whether Michael is experiencing joy or extreme pain, Duell has us, the viewers, experiencing it right alongside Michael.

He is truly incredibly in the role….I can’t say enough as to how impressed I’ve been with his acting.

As for Bogart, she is a real natural. All of her lines come from the heart.

Abby struggles to reconcile the fact she works as a stripper in order to put herself through school…and Bogart has made us feel that struggle within Abby.

Abby and Michael

Whether she’s having an earnest conversation with Michael or defending herself against Carly, Bogart makes me root for Abby at every turn.

I like the way their relationship has developed….two damaged souls seeking solace in each other.

I think the best way to fully show the impact of THAT KISS is to show it!

So….without further adieu…..

When last we saw Aidan Devane on All My Children, he had been sent to jail for kidnapping charges after holding Kendall against her will.

The whole obsessive love for Kendall gone awry had fans going – huh???

Many fans complained that the writers made Aidan do things that were totally out of character…He was a good guy for most of his 8-year run on AMC…that is until the show was moved from New York City to L.A. last January and Aidan was written off the show the month before – much to his fans chagrin!!

I caught up with Aidan’s portrayer – the incredibly gracious Aiden Turner – Sunday at opening day of International Polo Club Palm Beach in Wellington, FL.

Turner is known to frequent the Palm Beach area now and again as his friend, Cedric DuPont, owns an antiques store by the same name in West Palm Beach.

Aiden, who now lives in L.A., flew in to town for a New Year’s Eve party.

Another friend of his, Shamin Abas, handles the public relations for the International Polo Club Palm Beach.

It was Aiden’s second time at polo.

With the scene set….It was an absolutely picture perfect South Florida day…Let the interview begin.

First and foremost, Aiden wants his fans to know how much he appreciates them and their support.

Regarding the twist in his final storyline – when Aidan first rescued Kendall from the hospital in order to help her avoid a murder charge and then turned it into a kidnapping, Aiden agreed with the fans.

“It’s a really lame story with a capital L and I found it to be a real shame,” Aiden said. “It made my character do a 180. As I was learning the lines I thought, this is not the character that I worked so hard on.”

Aiden described his character as being “full of integrity. I really liked the character. I really loved playing him. Sometimes he rubbed off on me. They used to write me really cool and then the writers changed and they put a different spin on the character. But it was a good 8 years.”

On the up side, being off contract allows Aiden to pursue other opportunities.

“When you’re on contract, you can’t do anything else,” Aiden said. “It’s like a marriage. You can’t date anyone else. I wouldn’t be able to do a movie.”

Which is where he would like to go next.

“I’d like to do movies like “The Bourne Supremacy” things like that,” he said. “I’d love to do comedy….action movies….things like that.”

Aiden is one of three finalists to replace Andy Whitfield in the lead role of “Spartacus,” the Starz television series. Whitfield withdrew from role in Season two, when his non-Hodgkin Lymphoma returned.

Aiden and two other finalists for the role were flown to New Zealand for a screen test with the cast. He’s in a kind of limbo, because there has been no decision made. Aiden said they may not recast the role at all and scrub shooting the next season.

“It’s not going to be an easy thing to recast, because so many people are in love with the character,” he said. “It’s a hard thing for another actor to take on and it’s risky for the actor when someone is so loved.”

Aiden also shot a Mercedes commercial, where he plays a James Bond-type of character. That commercial is coming out in March…so look for it.

As far as AMC goes, he misses going to the set each day as well as the comaraderie and support among the cast and crew.

“I was inspired by being with such a talented cast…Everybody there did such a great job,” he said. “It really is like a family.”

Is there a chance Aidan Devane will return to Pine Valley?

“Yes. There is a chance, he said. “It’s up to ABC to approach me. There’s a lot of people on FB and in soap magazines that want me to come back. I’m open to coming back, but it’s really up to ABC to make the phone call.”

On competing on Dancing with the Stars, Aiden had nothing but praise for his professional dance partner, Edyta Sliwinska.

“It was a great experience. It was tough… 7 to 8 hours a day…Going from nothing to dancing and doing it in front of 24 million people.”

I don’t know about you, but I did a whole lot of fast forwarding during last week’s One Life To Live and General Hospital.

Quite frankly, I’m not even going to get into GH too much, because, really, what’s there to say?

It’s the Sonny and Brenda show!

Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Brenda (Vanessa Marcil Giovinazzo) Photo: ABC

The eppys go like this….Brenda with Sonny, Brenda with Jason, Brenda with Sonny, Brenda with Dante, Brenda with Sonny, Brenda with Carly, Brenda with Sam, Brenda with Spinelli, Sonny with Claire, Sonny with Alexis, Sonny with Jason, Sonny with Michael…yada, yada, yada….

And the previous Brenda/Dante connection with a possible baby involved just feeds into this whole Brenda-centric show….Ugh!

Bringing back Vanessa Marcil Giovinazzo for these storylines is SUCH a waste!

The only other thing going on is Crazy Dr. Niles (Brianna Brown) and her insane revenge against Robin, which really has gone on too long. It was interesting in the beginning, but the writers should have ended it when they shipped Lisa off to Shadybrook….That situation is getting boring too.

Oh, and I almost forgot the repetitive theme of Liz getting jealous when Lucky tries to move on…..Seen this before. She doesn’t want him, but doesn’t want anyone else to have him (yawwwn).

Ooooo-KAY. So much for GH!

Now on to OLTL…

What’s wrong is basically this: there’s a revolving door as far as characters in/characters out and just when you’re getting invested in a character or characters….Poof! They’re gone!

Case in point….Matt Walton as Eli was a HUGE missed opportunity.

Turning Eli from a well-respected attorney and good person into a crazy, psycho-killer was a serious error in judgement.

Matt Walton (Eli Clark). Photo: ABC/Steve Fenn

Walton and Kassie DePaiva as Blair had some really great chemistry going on.

And do you realize how long it’s been since Blair has had a serious love interest? There was so much potential for Eli and Blair.

But noooooo.

They had to kill Eli…not only KILL Eli….But they had Cole (Brandon Buddy) kill him. Thereby, writing off both Walton and Buddy in one fell swoop, which I’m not at all happy about.

Although I have to say, Buddy absolutely nailed it in his goodbye scenes with Kristin Alderson (Starr). (See my previous post on that).

Cole (Brandon Buddy) and Starr (Kristen Alderson)

Also, we had the triple whammy of having Eli blackmail Dr. Greg Evans (Terrell Tilford) into becoming part of his diabolical plot to kill Tea (Florencia Lozano).

Thus, Tilford was written off the show as Greg goes to jail for his part in the plot.

And I am REALLY NOT HAPPY about that!!

Terrell Tilford (Dr. Greg Evans) Photo: ABC

Dr. Greg is a character who has grown near and dear to my heart and Tilford really brought everything he had to each scene.

How stupid is that to write off Dr. Greg, just when Destiny (Shenell Edmonds) finds out that Greg is really her father and not her brother….That would have been a great opportunity to watch the growing pains of the new dynamics in the entire Evans family.

Let me say that I’m grateful that Tea is alive and that they didn’t kill her off.

And another character who I have become invested in….whom I really enjoyed watching because he was one of the truly good guys – was Jason Tam as Markko Rivera.

And, yes, they’ve written him off the show….Not happy, not happy, not happy about that either!

As far as the remaining characters and the directions the writers are taking them….

Let’s see.

We have mean, cruel, evil Clint (Jerry Ver Dorn) and evil-in-training Matthew (Eddie Alderson).

The character of Clint, as far as I can remember, has never shown any of these dark traits that are coming out now.

You mean to tell me that Clint threw his nephew, David Vickers, into a Moroccan prison and now is going to any lengths to deny his new found son, Rex??

I don’t buy it. And I think a lot of longtime OLTL fans don’t either.

It’s not consistent with the Clint that has been on our screen for years.

As far as turning Matthew to the dark side….appalling!!! Hate it!

Marty Saybrook (Susan Haskell) exacting revenge by stealing medical records and threatening Natalie and Brody….Really???

Talk about uncharacteristic…..They pretty much ruined Marty’s character with this storyline.

And the “Who’s the Baby Daddy?” storylines with Natalie and Jessica’s babies and Rex’s paternity is so ho-hum…. having been done and overdone so much.

Quite frankly, Rex has been looking for his father for so long….that storyline jumped the shark a long time ago.

Having said all that, is there really ANY compelling storylines on OLTL at this point?

Not so much!
