You know, there was a while, not long ago, when I thought General Hospital had forgotten how to write female friendships.
Thank goodness times seem to be a’changin’.
First, there were those Girls Night Out episodes at Jake’s. It was fun to see a group of intelligent, professional, mature women getting together and talking and actually having fun.
Then there was Sam (Kelly Monaco) and Maxie (Kirsten Storms). Two scheming peas in a pod (although they both seem to have moved on recently from revenge mode).
Next came the ingenious idea to bond Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) and Diane (Carolyn Hennesy) during a hilarious, debacle-filled yet eye-opening trip to claim Litigator of the Year. What a fabulous pair they make.
Now I’m enjoying another female connection: the growing friendship between Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) and Robin (Kimberly McCullough).
It makes perfect sense for these two women to bond. They both work at the hospital, they both have maternal matters on the brain and, frankly, they could both use a friend.
Robin, for one, hasn’t had a true gal pal since Brenda. And Elizabeth? The death of BFF Emily has left a definite void in her life.
Watching Elizabeth and Robin grow closer has been a pleasure. Not only are they my two favorite female characters on the show, but their friendship (as well as Sam/Maxie and Alexis/Diane) gives me hope for the future of GH.

I too am loving all these relationships, not sure which one I like the best because they are all great & realistic!
I really enjoyed watching Liz/Robin bond the other day. Alexis & Diane (& when they let Kate in with them I even like her!) are always fun to watch. I also liked Sam/Maxie, hope they get some more scenes together soon too, it’s been awhile.

Why did Emily quit General Hospital? Her acting
is wonderful. Her and Nick together made you believe in love again. I will really miss her.
And having mike in a comma I will really miss him to. He’s a wonderful actor.
But Sonny is the real reason I watch the program. I love all the actors but Sonny is the one that make me want to watch General Hospital.
I watched it with my Grandma when it first started out and I was only about seven and I lost track of it for awhile but when Sonny joined the cast I was hooked again. And I loved him in his potrayal of Desi Arnez.Keep up the good work. But I hate you killing off Alan, and

Hi, Sandy. I’m not sure why Natalia Livingston (Emily) left. Probably to spread her acting wings a bit and see if there was something else out there. I’m sure, if she ever wants to come back, GH will find a way to make that happen.
As for Sonny, I’ve been a Maurice Benard fan since his days as Nico Kelly on All My Children. The Sonny character has definitely become synonymous with GH, and a lot of that has to do with Maurice’s portrayal.
    Thanks for posting!
