They’re both manipulative.
Both devious.
And they’ll do just about anything to get what they want.
So I’m watching General Hospital Thursday and Skye Chandler Quartermaine asks Ric Lansing for a play date with their two young daughters and I can’t help but think….
What does Skye really want?
Apparently, Ric wondered that too.
Of course, he’s no one to talk.
He’s a dirty district attorney who’s planted evidence and put a phony witness on the stand during a trial – and those are the least of his misdeeds.
When Ric questioned Skye’s motives, she understood where he’s coming from.
“It takes a player to know a player,” she acknowledged. “You’d be a fool to trust me.”
And visa versa, Skye!
As the scene went on, the two talked about how having children has changed them.
They talked about Ric’s complicated relationship with Alexis.
They talked about their unhappy childhoods.
And they talked about their love for their daughters: Skye for Lila Rae and Ric for Molly.
Rick Hearst and Robin Christopher delivered some real in-the-moment scenes that were wonderful to watch. I have always enjoyed both actors through the years.
I liked Rick Hearst from the start – although I haven’t always liked his alter ego Ric Lansing, because he’s done some really despicable things.
I hated when he chained Carly, while pregnant, in a room and planned to steal her baby after she gave birth. I didn’t think I would ever like him again.
But then he flashes that smile and he shows that emotionally wounded little boy side – and he reels me back in again.
Skye has been a regular character on all three ABC soaps: All My Children, One Life To Live and General Hospital.
I’ve watched her lie and scheme her way through all three, and, as with Ric, I’ve always liked Skye and felt a lot of compassion for her.
She hasn’t had an easy life. But, then again, who really does in soap land?
I really felt sorry for her when Jasper “Jax” Jacks left her on their wedding night to help Brenda, his former love who reemerged from the dead. He ultimately dumped Skye for Brenda, sending Skye into a perpetual drunken tailspin.
I loved her pairing with Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary). Both actors really shined together, but the Luke/Skye relationship never really went anywhere romantically, because of his loyalty to his catatonic wife, Laura.
And now, Skye may be on the brink of another relationship – with Ric.
Could she be the one to bring out the good side of this bad boy? Stay tuned.

Skye is my absolute FAVORITE character, has been since her 1st AMC stint!! I even liked her as Lorna on AW. I started watching OLTL regularly because of Robin Christopher.
I still hate Jax for what he did to Skye & feel he deserves whatever fresh hell Carly may give him & he deserves to have Sonny in his life & on his back forever lol
I liked Skye w/Luke but never wanted the relationship to go anywhere cuz then she’d be like Tracy – sitting around watching Luke fall all over himself for Laura even tho she’s unavailable in every sense of the word.
I’ve missed this week’s episodes (weekend marathon!) but love the Skye/Ric possiblities. I liked Ric w/Alexis but can’t see how they’d ever reunite after he slept w/her daughter.
Ric/Skye have so many similarities, love the potential here IF these writers actually utilize them these are 2 powerhouse actors who could be a new supercouple if written well.
Ric could finally have someone who is always on his side too. Alexis only seemed to support Ric when it benefitted her own needs imho.
Are we sure that Alcazar is dead? Because if he’s not, Ric & Skye will have some splaining to do … & it would FINALLY give Ted Knight the front burner storyline he deserved a long time ago!

As always, you provide some great observations!
I agree that Ric needs someone on his side – maybe she can help him show “the good Ric” for awhile.
I think these two have some real possibilities…
Is Alcazar really dead?…Is anyone really dead in the soap world?
