I’m not much of a Nash and Jessica fan on One Life to Live.
The way they got together … basically steamrolling over Antonio … always tainted their union, in my eyes.
You can imagine my surprise, then, at how moved I was watching Jessica dealing with the news that Nash was not going to survive the injuries he sustained from his fall. (Check out some of the scenes below.)

Bree Williamson was A-MAY-ZING. She practically hyperventilated her dialogue, and as I watched her, I thought, “Oh my. That’s exactly how I would expect to react in the same situation.”
Pretty soon, I was bawling, too.
Wow.
Those scenes made me really care about Nash and Jessica for the first time. I felt the love, the history, the connection.
In fact, there were powerhouse performances all around. Michael McBain (Chris Stack) stoically giving the difficult news. Clint (Jerry verDorn) and Viki (Erika Slezak) desperately wanting to help their daughter, but knowing there was nothing they could do. Jared (John Brotherton) and Natalie’s (Melissa Archer) guilt cutting through their shock.
And Nash. Well, what can I say about Forbes March except that it’s almost unfathomable to me that the show has let him go. After all the time and effort OLTL took building him into a leading man, creating a strong pairing (complete with a solidifying child) and tearing down another significant couple in the process … and now this?
I really don’t get soap casting sometimes.
But I guess it’s moot now.
I’ll just try to be thankful that Nash’s death at least offered some great material for other cast members.
And that looks to continue. The previews show Jessica lashing out at Natalie for her part in Jared’s ruse.
Amen!
I simply loathe Natalie’s decision to protect her latest “true” love by lying to her family. (Even if she claims it was to benefit the Buchanans. Yeah, whatever.) And Jared holds no appeal for me at all. (I didn’t feel one iota of pity for him as he wrung his hands by Charlie’s bedside.)
I have lost a lot of respect for Natalie because of this, and while I don’t think she was to blame for Nash’s death, she definitely didn’t help matters. She deserves whatever anger Jessica throws at her.
And considering the way Bree has been nailing her scenes lately? I truly expect nothing less than fireworks when these two sisters butt heads.

  1. I am SO glad you wrote about this, Kara!
Tears were flowing for me during those emotional scenes.
Bree was phenomenal – so raw and real! Emmy material!
I can’t believe they let Forbes go, particularly – as you said – they totally trashed Jessica’s character (her cheating on Antonio) to pair Nash/Jess…I was really starting to actually *like* Jash together – and now he’s dead…Huh?
The one thing I differ with you on, dear friend, is the Nat/Jared pairing. I can’t believe I’m saying this because I detested Jared in the beginning. But I *like* him and Nat.
I don’t condone Nat keeping the secret, but it does make for a more dramatic outing of the secret…And I have come to really like Jared.
I think John Brotherton has really shown his acting abilities in the past few weeks – first with the comedic scenes with Vickers and now with his despair over Charlie.
    Just my 2 cents 🙂

  2. Thanks for writing about Nash’s death. I have really hated Nash for a long time becuase of his and Jessica’s slimy ways when they got together but his death scenes were great. Everyone was fabulous.
I do disagree about Jared and Natalie though. I started out completely against Jared right out the door because I was a big John/Natalie fan, Jared was the enemy to me but I have come to completely adore Jared and especially with Natalie. I think these two are amazing together and while I think what Natalie did was bad I think its going to provide some amazing SL for Melissa and for Jared and Natalie. The fall out from all of this will be fantastic. Natalie made a mistake no doubt but I do believe she had the best of intentions for her family.

  3. Hi Sabrina,
I feel the same way about Natalie and Jared.
I was a big Natalie/John fan and loved those two together.
I really thought Jared was sleazy in the beginning, but I am really liking him with Natalie now.
    Thanks for posting.

  4. Hi, Sabrina.
The Nash death scenes *were* amazing. What a great ensemble story for the cast. You know something’s special about certain scenes when you actually care about characters you didn’t really care about before.
As for the Natalie/Jared thing, I guess I’ll just have to agree to disagree with you and Michele. LOL. Ironically, I liked Jared when he first came on (maybe because he was causing trouble for Nash and Jessica), but I quickly became unenamored when he chose the money over Natalie. I just think she deserves better. But I will agree that the fallout from this should provide great material for everyone, particularly Melissa. And since she’s one of my OLTL faves, I can at least appreciate that much.
    Thanks for your thoughts!

  5. I have to agree w/Kara, Jared lost me when he chose $ & I have lost some respect for Natalie because she let it go so easily. But I will say watching them together in the aftermath of all this has softened me to them just a little. They obviously love each other & it shows.
All this will make for some fantastic soap opera!
I always liked Nash/Jessica, never been an Antonio fan & Zzzzz to Antonio/Jessica, altho I will admit the way it played out made me feel for Antonio for the first time ever.
Forbes March was so amazing in those scenes, he had very few words but was still so powerful. When he rolled his eyes & managed to say “Out!” to Nat/Jared I loved that why would he want to waste his final minutes with them.
I too felt zero sympathy for Jared at Charlie’s bedside.
One great thing about this storyline is we will get to watch Natalie/Jessica go at it LOL. When Nat first arrived in town, the original Jessica played her & she was all sweetness & light. I don’t think “Tessica” is gonna be as nice. This will definitely be must see TV.
Will also be interesting to see if Todd tries to help his favorite niece get revenge too.
And YES Bree Williams has too many scenes to choose from for a future emmy reel!! They were all fantastic but the chapel scene really broke my heart when she was begging for Nash’s life.
P.S. – It’d be great if they brought March back to AMC to play Scott but have no idea what they’d do with him at this point.
