Would someone give me a good reason to watch One Life To Live – please?
It’s not that I’m not watching it, because I am.
It’s my favorite and always has been my favorite.
But the truth is – I’m just not that into it right now.
What the heck has happened?
Head Writer Ron Carlivati started things on a high note when he took over the head writing duties last fall.
The Paris, Texas storyline – in my opinion – was brilliant in the way he little-by-little wove in the Llanview characters until finally – both worlds collided.
I absolutely loved watching Viki’s (Erika Slezak) escape from her life as an heiress/newspaper publisher to become a waitress.
It was so much fun to watch.
I couldn’t wait to get home from work to watch it.
And now – quite the opposite.
I don’t like the this whole attack on BE storyline and Clint turning into Asa. Clint has always been a good guy and that’s the way I like him.
I’m also not feeling the chemistry between Clint (Jerry Ver Dorn) and Nora (Hillary B. Smith) as a couple. I like both actors, but not as love interests together.
I’m not interested in the Rex/Adriana wedding – especially because the Shane paternity secret is bound to come out in time to stop it.
I really hate the way Adriana has become a total B****! Although, I guess I can understand her not being too nice to Rex’s old girlfriend, Gigi, who he seems to be with every time she turns around.
I’m not liking Starr’s teen pregnancy storyline, although Kristen Alderson (Starr) and Brittany Underwood (Langston) have been turning in some heavy-duty performances. They should get a young actress Emmy nomination for this.
And the whole Todd anger thing has to go. I love Trevor St. John when he plays the nice Todd. But lately, Todd has been too over-the-top.
The scene the other day, threatening Cole, gave me the creeps. I guess that was the idea.
But I just can’t get over the irony of his anger. After all, he raped Cole’s mother, Marty.
And what’s up with the Nash/Sarah road trip and sharing the suite together?
Don’t get it.
Are they going to have Nash cheat on Jessica now that he cheated with Jessica when she was married to Antonio? Don’t even wanna go there….
And speaking of angry Antonio, there’s something not right about him catching John and Talia in a motel room.
Sorry. I’m not buying it.
Talia was crazy about Antonio and she saw him through the Nash/Jessica situation. I don’t think she would cheat on him.
And John McBain? It’s not his style to stab a friend in the back.
So there’s more to this story, but, honestly, it’s just not that interesting.
It may be some kind of plan to take down dirty police commish Lee Ramsey.
Taking him down. I’m all for that. I can’t stand his character – or I should say lack of it.
And just who is he keeping up in the upstairs room?
Okay. That just might be one reason to watch.
Another reason to watch is the imminent return of fan favorite Andrea Evans as Tina Roberts.
One thing’s for sure.
Tina will shake things up.

Is Andrea Evans really returning? That I can’t wait to see, great news! I think she’ll interact well with Sarah.
I have zero interest in Nash hooking up with anyone else for any reason after all he went thru to get Jessica & all the peeps they hurt in the process.
The actresses playing Starr/Langston definitely deserve a younger actor nomination at the very least! I’m not sure what I think about that storyline or how I want it to play out. I do know that I’m tired of watching Todd threaten & intimidate children.
Altho I like Charlie/Vicki I have a feeling after the stuff w/Jared comes out they may get backburnered. Or at least he will.
Altho I did like TSJ’s good guy version of Todd, for the most part I’ve always been borderline on Todd & really dislike him now, hate how he’s treating Starr & all the kids. Are the adults in Llanview that afraid of Todd that nobody is willing to call him on that?
I didn’t like Clint/Nora from the start. Given their recent scenes, I’d be interested in possibly seeing a Clint/Lindsay redux. Lindsay/Bo bore me too & Lindsay/Nora’s constant bickering is getting old.
I’m not buying the John/Talia/Antonio thing at all. The whole motel thing was insane, the only one acting in character is Antonio.
What I do like is Rex/Gigi possibilities. I wasn’t big on Rex/Adriana especially after that stalker storyline where she was dumbed down beyond belief.
Finding out who Rex’s real father is would keep me watching.
I also like that Blair bought Capricorn & would like to see them incorporate that into the show more.
I also like watching Marcy/Michael trying to get their life back after the whole kidnapping thing. Altho I’m not crazy about this guy playing Michael.
I also want to know who is Ramsey hiding & how that connects to John (we know EVERYTHING connects to John for Ramsey lol).
I also want to see Dorian win for a change, even tho she’s bad lol. She never gets a plan off the ground before she blows it or someone stops it. I actually hope she somehow gets control of BE right under Clint’s nose, even if it is temporarily.
Where is RJ? I’d like to see him more often.
Can’t wait to see David when he returns as well & I’m looking forward to him becoming a Buchanan, that should make that clan more interesting lol.

Maybe it’s just me, but Todd VIOLENTLY BEATS UP underage kids… and what happens? Nothing. Everytime I see him on the screen, I just want to turn away. And to make matters worse, Blair is just letting all of this happen. Her daughter should be more important to her than whatever feelings Todd may have/may not have for her.

Tia, I am really hating the way Todd is being written right now. I cannot believe that he is not being prosecuted for beating up these boys!
And Kimi, as always, your assessments are right on the mark!
Yes, Andrea Evans is returning, which does open up a bunch of possibilities for her and Sarah.
I also like Rex and Gigi together and am sure it’s heading in that direction.
In real life, Melissa Gallo (Adriana) recently married David Fumero (Christian) and she’s supposed to be leaving the show. So I imagine that’s how they’re going to write her off. Remember she told Dorian that if the wedding doesn’t happen she’s leaving Llanview for good and Dorian will never see her again.
They do need to give RJ more screen time and, yeah, I can’t WAIT for David to return!!

I think your comments were right on target. I’m hoping the show will improve when Ron Carlivati’s storylines start again. We’re still seeing strike stories done by Gary Tomlin, but Ron’s work should start again as of May 2. It can’t come soon enough for me! I think Ron has his work cut out for him to bring the show back to where it was before the strike.

From your lips to Ron’s ears!
I hope he *can* and *does* turn this show around, because, obviously we are not the only ones feeling this way.
Right now, I come home from work and turn on GH first and sometimes – like last night – I didn’t even bother to watch OLTL.
    Something Must Change!
    Thanks for posting,

Just wanted to drop a quick note to make sure you knew that March Forbes has been let go from OLTL… so that is the explanation, without any real “explanation” for Nash running off with Sarah…
I’m hearing that he was becoming too outspoken, as an actor, about the things he was dissatisfied with on the show… so he was written out…
I’m enjoying the Starr pregnancy storyline, but that’s only because Kristen for sure has the chops to pull it off…
For the rest, I think you’re pretty spot on…

Hi Jill and welcome to Soapbox!
There is an unconfirmed rumor on the internet about Forbes, but I can’t find anything that says he is definitely leaving.
I really like Forbes as an actor and loved Nash when he first came on the scene – but I haven’t liked the direction his character has gone since the whole cheating with Jess thing and now this flirting with Sarah thing.
I did see the spumor posted on a couple of boards, but I guess it’s a wait and see whether it’s true.

I didn’t see that one … hopefully that’s not true about Forbes, especially after all TPTB have gone though to hook him up with Jessica.

I stopped watching OLTL when Evangeline left, so I can’t provide you a reason to watch either.
