Kara and I are gearing up for our third Super Soap Weekend and we’re planning on blogging from there each day.
This incredible event, held Nov. 10 and 11 at Disney MGM Studios in Orlando, features fan interactions with actors and actresses from the three ABC soaps: All My Children, One Life to Live and General Hospital.
But with only six weeks to go, the list of soap stars who are scheduled to attend has been trickling in at a snail’s pace.
And here’s the thing.
I seem to remember that a more complete list has been released earlier in past years.
So, I’m wondering…..What Gives?
And I’m not the only one wondering.
There’s plenty of chatter from cyberspace soap fans asking why so late with the list?
So far, the list is pretty short. As I write this, there were only five confirmed from GH, six from AMC and eight confirmed from OLTL. It may be updated as you’re reading this.
Two GH hunks – Steve Burton (Jason) and Greg Vaughan (Lucky) – have confirmed they will not attend this year.
The other thing noticeably missing: a lack of the longtime soap veterans.
The only one so far is Susan Lucci (Erica Kane) from AMC. Where’s Michael E. Knight (Tad) from AMC? He was there last year.
How about Erika Slezak (Viki) from OLTL? She was there last year.
Click here to view the lineup so far and to find more info on SSW 2007.
Also, Disney has a SSW message board. Fans post confirmations on the boards that they have read on the various actors websites. Click here to check out the message board.
So stay tuned and bookmark this site for updates and the most up-to-date experiences from SSW 2007.
It’s my understanding that Disney has yet to release the “official” list. So, there are sure to be more stars to confirm. Just keep checking the SSW page.
For die-hard soap fans, this event is a must!
If you haven’t made your reservations yet, there’s still plenty of time.
But don’t take my word for it. Be there.
You may even find your evil twin!

I have waited 12 yrs years for this. Never have I been able to go until now. And I want to see who is going to be there. This list is taking 4 ever!! Not that I would change my mind about going depending on who is there, I love my soaps but c’mon. Am disappointed about steve burton though. Have never been but I do keep up on everything! Let’s go with the list!!!!

Barb, I just posted a link to the SSW message boards in my blog, which might be helpful to you to connect with other fans. The great thing for you is that it’s your first time and, if you haven’t met any of the actors yet, there will be a lot to choose from. Stay tuned here, because I will be posting some tips about going as we get closer.

Team C.H.E.R.I. is dismayed about the lack of vets invited to SSW. We are writing to the SSW sponsor, Colgate-Palmolive (Attn: Media Relations,300 Park Ave., New York, NY 10023) asking them to request ABC invite the vets. Anyone who’d like to join in the letter writing is so welcome to do so! The vets are who made soaps great and are beloved by millions of fans. Thanks!

Ro, Thanks for posting that info. I think it’s really important for fans to get behind the vets who have made the ABC Soaps so beloved for us old-time fans! Michele

Thanks Ro. I am extremely excited. I go to Disney every year with my family but never for SSW. Where is the link you posted? I have clicked on about every link & can’t find it. Thanks again.

Hey Barb – You can visit http://www.soapcentral.com and go to the OLTL message board. The thread is called C.H.E.R.I. Initiative – named for Catherine, Hillary, Erika, Robin, and Ilene.

Hi everyone. I won’t be able to go this year and am so sad, but for those of you who have never gone or are going again…I am so jealous! I would love to meet David Canary. He has never been there when I have gone in the past. It is a great tiring weekend. Make sure you get there by seven am. if they are doing the fast pass tickets for autographs this year you will be able to see at least two stars and possibly three. If you get there earlier you will be able to get to see three at least. Bring a water bottle and a snack. You will be standing in line a lot. 🙂 I usually see AMC stars…and they were all very friendly nice and personable. The only one that was kind of a let down was Susan Lucci. She won’t sign your name on the autograph just her name. But she was pleasant.
Have fun and remember to get there early. The park says it opens at 8 but it really opens at 7:30.
Good luck and happy soap star hugging!

Terri, I’m so sorry you won’t be going this year, especially since you want to meet David Canary. I suspect his Fastpass will be the first to go! Kara and I will be blogging from there and letting you know who we saw — and touched! All of your tips are really great, right on target and will be very helpful to first-timers. Thank you for posting them.
