The new writing at All My Children is evident now more than ever with the heating up of couples we never would have expected.

When Adam (David Canary) and Annie (Melissa Claire Egan) got married, we all knew she’d cheat on him. But we all thought it would be with his nephew, Scott (Adam Mayfield), not with Adam’s own son, JR (Jacob Young).

JR and Annie are, frankly put, hot.

J.R. isn’t as interesting when paired with boring Marissa (Brittany Allen). Not that Allen is a bad actess, but the writers didn’t need to make her Babe 2.0. She isn’t a very interesting character. And we know that they do have feelings for each other.

Then, we have David (Vincent Irizarry) and Greenlee (Rebecca Budig).

AMC is going back to basics in this marriage of convenience turned into a love story.

Hey, it worked for Zach and Kendall, why not for David and Greenlee.

I personally find David and Greenlee (dubbed GreeD by online fans) to be great. They’ve certainly mixed it up having Greenlee marry her former brother-in-law.

And even if the focus of this entry is about new couples, I’d like to give a final shout out to Alicia Minshew (Kendall) and Thorsten Kaye (Zach) on their brief return.

Finally, there’s one last person to mention.

Since the new writing regime, we’ve been seeing a lot more of Jackson (Walt Willey). And he has been sharing screentime with Erica (Susan Lucci), of course.

But with Krystal (Bobbie Eakes) going to work for him, will Erica find competition?

AMC is changing it up in many ways, but will these new (and possibly up and coming) couples, will it enter a new era of greatness?

    Hi Joshua,

I have to say that I was one of the ones in the beginning who thought – Greenlee and David????

But now I actually like the two of them together and think they complement each other.

I also totally agree with you about Marissa and JR…they’re really kinda boring. JR and Annie present a wealth of possibilities – and chemistry!

As far as Krystal and Jack….Let the Games Begin!

I’m all for GreeD, but Greenlee needs to grow up and get over all her revenge. The way she is acting is exactly why I hated the character in the past. It’s one thing to want revenge on someone for a legitimate reason, but to go to court and lie about everything that has happened is just wrong. If she gets over it and moves on with David there are unlimited stories for them.

As for Annie and JR, I can’t stand JR so I’m really not feeling it. I thought she had more heat with Scott, but I hope that when Adam is gone, she finds someone other than a Chandler to heat up our screens with. She deserves better. I love her scheming ways!

Finally, since Erica has a new, hot love interest coming on the show, I could really get behind a Jack/Krystal pairing.

    Hi Sally,

    All very good points!

ITA that Greenlee needs to get over the revenge thing and move on. The Greenlee/Kendall/Ryan thing is soooo old. But the GreeD pairing presents so many possibilities.

I also really love Annie! When she first came on the scene, she was kinda boring – until she became Crazy Annie and I have loved the spark and zest that Annie brings to every scene. I mean, you never know WHAT she’s gonna do – and I love that!

And I am so looking forward to Michael Nouri coming aboard as Erica’s love interest. I have followed his career forever and he his such a great vet and I’m sure will be a great addition to AMC. I can’t wait for that!
    Thanks for posting!

I am one of those people who, when Vincent Irizarry came back in 2008, saw his three or so scenes with Rebecca Budig, and said “Wow! They have chemistry!”. When I learned David would be helping Greenlee, I said “They’ll probably put them together”, as in soaps, whoever you have your first scenes back with is who you end up with. That go around.

Sorry I am going to disagree with you. There is only one Zach and Kendall. No one on this show will ever duplicate what this couple had. The actors Thorsten Kaye and Alicia Minshew are what made this couple so special. They have this amazing chemistry and it draws you in and keeps you watching. Even with the horrible writing for them I still kept watching. It is because of them I started to watch the show .

I’m happy about all three, Wasn’t too sure about Greenlee and David because he use to be her brother n law. They have taken it slow and Greenlee is making him more human. J.R. and Annie was a big surprise, all those fights then hook them up, who knew how hot they would be.
I hope they explore Jackson and Krystal. I’m so sick of Erica and Jackson they have been off and on for 20 years. How long is Jackson going to be treated like garbage, Erica needs to grow up.

I wish D&G well, and I hope the story takes off. But they can’t be compared to the smoldering Zen.

Sorry, but David and Greenlee make me nauseous. They are spoiled children run amuck. David deserves to be rotting in prison for the rest of his unnatural life and Greenlee needs to grow up and realize that she would not be in this predicament at all if David hadn’t lied to her family and friends and stole some poor woman’s corpse and passed it of as Greenlee. David and Greenlee represent everything that is and has been wrong with AMC for the last 6 years.

Jake and Erica, bring them on. And while they are bringing them on how about giving us some more Jessie and Angie, Jake and Amanda and Frankie and Randi. You know, the couples that can really bring us “love in the afternoon”!

I want Erica and Jackson. I agree with letting Krystal the kidnapper hook up with Nouri’s character. The fans want JERICA!

I like David/Greenlee but I don’t think they have a chance because of AMC’s Ryan obsession. I also love Jerica and I don’t want them to be with other people. I agree with the other poster who said Caleb should be for Krystal or even Opal.

As amazing as it sounds this show actually made it for nearly 35 years before Zach and Kendall were on the scene.

I love David and Greenlee. I want more of them!

Erica and Jack are a snoozefest. They don’t work romantically. I can’t stand Jack. He’s a bore and self righteous. He needs Krystal to loosen him up.

I always liked Michael Nouri as an actor.
I look forward to Caleb and Erica together, and for Erica to find herself really falling in love with him. They would be a stunning, dynamic couple.

I like the chemistry and playful banter between Madison and Ryan. I hope they develop them together, and move him on from the tiresome Rylee.

I love Erica and Jackson. I’d rather see Nouri paired up with Opal or Bobbie Eakes.
